Closed and Open Captioning

Fulfilling the legal requirement of Closed Captioning {CC} doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you need high definition or standard line 21 SD captions, Florida Digital Studio’s expert technicians use the latest software and encoding equipment to assure that your program is Closed Captioned {CC} to network or cable broadcast specifications.

Multi-media files such as QuickTime may also have open or closed captioning embedded in their files as well as DVD’s.

Subtitles or “open captions” can also be added for a specific version or application.

For tape based captioning, masters may be submitted on a hard drive or in any of the following videotape formats:
HDCAM
DVCPRO HD
HDV 1080i
DVCPRO 50 or 25
Digital Betacam
Beta SP
DVCAM
Mini DV

*Standard Requirements for Broadcast Masters:

• The program should be broadcast ready.
• All audio and video levels within legal limits.
• Minimum 60-seconds of Bars and tone are required, plus slate.
• Actual program time code should start at 01:00:00:00. This easily allows the recipient to measure program running time.
• Audio mix should be noted on master’s label.
• Conversion fees apply for masters submitted in PAL.

*Requirements for Film Festival Masters:

• The program should be ready to present.
• All audio and video levels set properly.
• Minimum 60-seconds of Bars and tone or black sync are required.
• Actual program start time code should start at 01:00:00:00
• Audio mix should be noted on master’s label.
• Conversion fees apply for masters submitted in PAL.
